Who you will meet
I’m Kathleen, a practicing counsellor with NCPS. I am hugely passionate about supporting individuals and families in their journey towards reconnecting with themselves and their environments.
By exploring how our biology and life experiences shape the way we respond to stress and life’s events, I help clients develop a deeper understanding of what they are going through and why certain patterns of thinking, feeling, or behaving may have developed; holding trauma in-place. Working in both South Africa and the United Kingdom, my journey as a counsellor has taken me into some of the most deeply meaningful and challenging aspects of counselling; helping victims of contact crime, adults and adolescents (+14), grief and loss, anxiety and overwhelm, as well as a great deal of trauma support work.
Through building greater self-awareness, in both the mind and the body, it becomes possible to make more conscious choices, strengthen resilience, and move forward in a way that feels more balanced and empowering. This could not have been done without the in-depth work I have undertaken for myself on my path to growth and discovery.

Our therapy journey
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is at the heart of our work together. What you share in sessions is treated with respect and care, and will not be discussed with others unless we have agreed this is helpful for your support, or I am concerned about serious risk of harm. We can talk through these boundaries in our first session so you feel clear, informed and safe to speak openly.
Types of sessions
I offer a range of session types to suit your needs, including in‑person and online appointments.
Whether you are looking for short‑term support around a specific issue or longer‑term space to explore deeper patterns, we will choose a format and pace that feels manageable for you.
What a session feels like
In our sessions, we will gently explore the patterns, pressures and life events that are shaping how you feel right now. Together, we will make sense of your experiences at your pace, so you can begin to reconnect with yourself and move toward the changes you are hoping for.
Perhaps something has been feeling a little harder lately?
You might not have a clear reason for how you’re feeling. Maybe you’re managing day to day, but inside you’re tired, overwhelmed, anxious or simply not feeling quite like yourself.
You may find yourself thinking:
• Why do I feel like I have to get everything right?
• Why can’t I switch my mind off or stop overthinking?
• Why do I find it so difficult to say “no” without feeling guilty?
• Why do I hide how I really feel to keep everyone else happy?
• Why does my body sometimes feel anxious when I don’t know what I’m anxious about?
• Why do I always seem to put everyone else’s needs before my own?
• Why am I snapping at the people I care about, even when I don’t mean to?
• Why do I keep falling into the same patterns or making choices I later regret?
• Is all of this beginning to affect my relationships, work or wellbeing?
You don’t need to be in crisis to seek counselling.
Sometimes, having a safe space to pause, make sense of what’s happening and understand yourself a little better can be enough to begin making things feel different.
If some of these questions feel familiar, counselling might be worth exploring.

My counselling style
I tailor our sessions specifically to you.
With you at the centre of the process, I draw on different therapeutic methods such as CBT, Psychotherapy, Gestalt therapy, somatic work and other, to find what best supports your needs, preferences and pace.
As a counsellor, I encourage open and honest conversation, with the aim of working towards meaningful change. The therapeutic method will always be your choice and you will have autonomy, to be who you need to be and talk about what you need to talk about.
Preparing for your first session:
Starting counselling can feel like a big step, and it's natural to wonder how to prepare. The good news is that you don't need to do anything special—just come as you are.
If it feels helpful, you might spend a little time reflecting on what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from our work together.
