Preparing for your first session:
Some questions to consider include:
- What has brought you to counselling at this point in your life?
- What would you like to be different?
- What has been most challenging for you recently?
- What experiences have shaped your story?
- What personal strengths, coping strategies, or sources of support have helped you along the way?
- Is there anything you're feeling unsure or concerned about when it comes to counselling?
These questions are simply a guide—you don't need to have answers to all of them, and you certainly don't need to know where to begin. Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin exploring what feels most important to you. I'll guide our conversation, and we'll work together at a pace that feels comfortable and respectful of where you are.
There is no right or wrong way to prepare for counselling. You don't need to have everything figured out before you arrive. Together, we'll work towards the changes that matter most to you.
