How will I know therapy is working?

You may notice progress in some of the following ways:

Emotional changes
You become more aware of your emotions and are able to experience them without feeling quite as overwhelmed or consumed by them.

Thinking differently
You begin to recognise and question unhelpful thoughts rather than automatically believing them. Over time, you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, your patterns, and what you need.

Behavioural changes
You start trying new ways of coping, make choices that better support your wellbeing, and feel more confident setting healthy boundaries.

Relationships
You communicate more openly and honestly, feel more connected to others, and develop relationships that feel healthier and more fulfilling.

Everyday life
You may notice improvements in your sleep, motivation, energy, or ability to be present and engaged in your day-to-day life.

Within therapy itself
You begin to feel more comfortable sharing openly, trusting the therapeutic process, and bringing your authentic self into the room.

It's important to remember that progress isn't always linear. There may be times when things feel challenging or uncomfortable, and that's often a natural part of growth. Therapy is about creating lasting change, and that takes time, patience, and compassion for yourself.
